JAKARTA, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Anti-terror squad of Indonesian police has arrested an alleged militant who is the leader of a IS-linked terrorist cell and has also financed terrorist acts, police said Thursday.

The militant also has expertise in assembling high-explosive bombs, the police added.

Rafli alias EY led a terrorist cell in Bekasi, in the outskirts of Jakarta and was also a recruiter of new militants, a police spokesman said.

Rafli, 26, was captured by the squad near a gas station east of Jakarta on Wednesday.

"The bombs assembled by JAD Bekasi have high-explosive power. The explosive material used in the bombs is mother of satan," the spokesman told a press conference.

Mother of satan, or triaceton triperoxide (TATP), was used as an explosive in some terrorist attacks since 2001.

Since May 4, the anti-terror squad has arrested six alleged militants in Bekasi city, foiling a suicide bombing plot, according to the police.

Members of the JAD had carried out several terrorist strikes in Indonesia, including the multiple suicide attacks in East Java and Riau provinces in May, 2018, and suicide strikes in a police station and Starbucks Cafe in the heart of Jakarta that killed eight people in January 2016, according to the police.
