SEOUL, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Confidence among South Korean consumers over economic situations posted the first rebound in four months, central bank data showed Friday.

The composite consumer sentiment index (CCSI) stood at 101.7 in September, up 2.5 points from the prior month, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

The index fell for three months through August, before rebounding this month. The reading above 100 indicates a higher number of optimists than pessimists.

The rebound came amid rising sentiment that the labor market conditions would no longer deteriorate as it seemed to have hit the bottom.

Sub-indices roughly gained ground. The CSI for current economic conditions was unchanged, but the figure for the future economic situations gained 2 points over the month to 84 in September.

The CSI for prospective job opportunity dipped for the fourth consecutive month to 84, the lowest since March last year.

Inflation expectations, which measure the outlook among consumers for headline inflation in the next 12 months, was unchanged at 2.7 percent in September.
