HOUSTON, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- A 7-month-old baby who went missing has been safely located on the side of a road, Houston authorities said Tuesday.

An Amber Alert was issued Monday night for the baby girl, named Allison King, after someone drove off her mother's 2007 black Nissan Sentra at a Shell gas station in Houston, authorities said. The mother had just stepped outside of the car when the car with the baby in it was stolen.

The baby's disappearance prompted an urgent search. Local police confirmed Tuesday through social media that the baby was found "in good condition." The car remained stolen.

A local TV station reported that the baby was found safe in her car seat on the side of a road. A search continued for a suspect captured on video as well as the vehicle, which had a Texas license plate.
