JAKARTA, March 20 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government will implement a flexible working policy with a one-day work-from-home scheme each week, as energy prices soar amid the conflict in the Middle East, said an official in a press release issued late Thursday.
"There are significant savings in terms of gasoline usage, a fifth of what we normally spend," said Airlangga Hartarto, the coordinating minister for economic affairs.
The government is closely monitoring developments, from oil prices to the dynamics of the war, and will continue to adjust our measures in line with evolving conditions, Airlangga noted.
The policy will apply to civil servants but may also be adopted by the private sector. The technical aspects of the policy are still being finalized, and it is expected to take effect in the near future. ■
